“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10 NKJV
Almighty God is not a Communist who treats all people the same as merely ignominious cogs of the State’s totalitarian regime. In contrast to Marxist ideology, the biblical worldview affirms the inherent dignity of all mankind having been branded by the Sovereign Creator King in the “imago Dei” (Gen.1:27; 9:6). God’s Word also teaches that Christ’s royal blood purchased the redemption of rebel sinners at Calvary through penal substitutionary atonement (Rom.3:21-26; Eph.1:7). The Christian worldview rooted in Holy Scripture also upholds that members of the Church, the Body of Christ, are those who have been saved by God’s grace through faith alone in the Person and finished work of Christ (Rom.12:4-5; Eph.1:13-14; 2:8-9). In light of this all-glorious reality, every believer will therefore give an account of our duty-bound stewardship responsibility before God at the Bema (2 Cor.5:10; 2 Tim.2:1-7). Faithful resistance to every totalitarian regime, including the flesh, the world, and the demonic forces of evil, will echo throughout eternity to the praise of God’s glory in Christ Jesus!
Some time ago, I salvaged a box of vintage International Harvest magazines in the Things to Come Mission home office here in Indianapolis from a smallish leak in the mailroom during some heavy rains. In doing so, I happened upon a timeless article written by a longtime friend of TCM: Dr. David Noebel, founder of Summit Ministries, called “Christian or Communist” in July 1962.
“The year 1973 was given as the year of final world conquest by the International Communist Conspiracy. And already some claim they are five years ahead of schedule (1968). Lenin said the first half of world conquest was the most difficult; the rest would come much easier. At present, this monster of International Communism rules a little over one-half of the world.”
“Lenin also established the process of conquest—first we will take Eastern Europe; then the masses of Asia; and then we’ll encircle the USA and it too shall fall into our hands. Already Cuba is a Communist satellite; Venezuela has a larger percentage of Communists per capita than Russia had in 1917 when it went to Lenin and his cutthroats. Latin America is crawling with Red agents and billions of dollars are being poured into this area in propaganda. Yes, dear Christian, we are being encircled by this gang of cutthroats, murderers, dead-end kids, bearded-ones; the whole bunch a godless gang of conspirators. And our freedom is in danger as never in our history.”
“What should we do? GET BUSY! Use your God-given freedom to defend it. Preach the Word as never before. Pray as never before. Give as never before. Work as never before. Time is running out. Motto yourself to: ‘No Rest ‘til the Rapture.’”
“It certainly seems as though we have approached the end. Whatever we do, we must do it now, and make it count for our Savior. The Ship of State is sinking and we had better take as many to the clouds (to meet Him in the air) as we possibly can.”
“Our missionary enterprise, instead of standing still or going backwards must be pushed as never before. God’s people must be awakened from sleep and the whole function of the Christian Church must go forward as never before.”
“Godless and death-dealing communism is on-rushing and except we raise up a standard against it (i.e. the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the teaching of the gospel of the grace of God) we’ll be completely stopped in our efforts to reach the peoples of the world with the gospel of eternal life.”
“Beloved, it is not yet time to rest. That time is yet future. Today is the day for work. It is still the day of salvation, and woe be to us if we ‘preach not the gospel’ (Rom.13:11-14; 1 Cor.9:16; Gal.1:4; Eph.6:12; 2 Cor.11:13-15; Eph.5:16-17).”
Suffice it to say that I’m grateful for God’s providential orchestration of such details that I came across this powerful article that is more relevant today than ever (Phil.1:12).
May we intentionally resist every totalitarian regime by investing the time, talent, and treasure of our lives into eternity by being industrious, diligent, and disciplined day by day. Our lives will bear witness, at the Judgment Seat of Christ, regarding how faithfully we defended the faith like a soldier, advanced the faith like an athlete, and cultivated the faith like a farmer (Eph.5:15-17; 2 Tim.2:1-7). When our lives flash before our eyes on that day, may our testimony echo throughout eternity to the praise of God’s glory in Christ Jesus!
Having said that, may we always remember and never forget that there is also coming a dead-serious and sobering day when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Phil.2:9-11). This includes every depraved tyrant, dictator, and autocrat throughout history whose hatred toward the Most High God deceived, enslaved, and murdered millions for the sake of Marxist regimes. For these minions of hell, it will be too little too late before the hammer blow of God’s justice righteously falls upon their condemned souls and they are banished into the outer darkness of the lake of fire where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth for all eternity (Rev.20:11-15).
Most certainly, God is NOT a Communist!
