Encouragement for the Ministry of Motherhood (from Lori’s Heart)

Lori Board writes…

“If in what I am doing, I am not pointing people’s eyes to Christ, I am failing in my mission.”

Awhile back, that became a purpose statement of my life that I wrote down and has been posted in my kitchen for years now.  As a mom, I feel that I have failed so many times to point the eyes of my children to the Lord. In this month of Mother’s Day, I am thankful for the grace of God that He put me into the ministry of motherhood.  Despite my failures, by God’s grace, He is able to accomplish much in and through mothers who are committed to honoring Him in their parenting.

“You are as much serving God in looking after your own children, training them up in God’s fear, minding the house, and making your household a church for God as you would be if you had been called to lead an army to battle for the Lord of hosts.”Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Enlisted For His Glory Academy” is the name of our homeschool because of the fact that this world is involved in a constant spiritual battle for the hearts and lives of every man, woman, boy and girl.  We are preparing our children as best as we can to be ready as adults to engage in the battle where the Lord calls them. We can only do that by applying a verse that I have known for many years, but as a mom has become much more powerful in my heart.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

I need the guidance of God and His wisdom on a daily basis to accomplish His purposes.  I cannot do it on my own. Please, moms, don’t ever look down on the ministry of motherhood as a “less than” ministry!

Just recently, we celebrated my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary.  They, like us, had 6 children and now have 32 grandchildren!  If this multiplication continues, consider the vast amount of people one simple couple could have on their bloodline for years to come if you have the mentality to intentionally to be fruitful and multiply, not only numerically, but spiritually!  Never underestimate God’s design for filling this world with worshippers to the praise of His glory!  This mindset goes against what the world pushes on women.  Their “strengths” will be wasted if they are “just” stay-at-home moms.  How untrue that is!

This Mother’s Day, at Grace Family Ministries, we want to encourage moms in this most precious of jobs given to us by God to advance the cause of Christ to the ends of the earth…beginning right at home.
